Around here it is common for a carver or artist to knock on the front door and offer to sell his/her work. I have been keeping my eye open for something that I felt connected too and last night was the night! I continually admire my hosts carving collection but particularly one of a muskox. Well the young gentlemen who knocked on the door last night is a well known carver and he had a "dancing muskox" that I immediately fell in love with and bought! It's awesome! I hope to buy another carving from him before I leave.
Today after the PD day we had the chance to have a tour of the local print shop and lithography shop. It was amazing to see the work that goes into the prints and to hear more about the history. The amount of time, precision and talent that goes into a print blew my mind. Apparently they do numerous "proofs" (like 50 or 60) before they actually do the final prints; the amount of time that goes into it is phenomenal and the final pieces are so beautiful! If you ever visit Cape Dorset the print shop and lithography shop should be on your place of lists to see!
